Biography

Clemens Unterreiner was born in Vienna and grew up in his home town, in Graz and Budapest.
In 1998 he started his singing career by taking up courses with famous singing teachers Hilde Rössel-Majdan, Gottfried Hornik, Helena Lazarska and Wicus Slabbert. He performed in numerous Operas and Operettas, Song Recitals, Oratorios and Church Concerts, domestic and international. He was soloist at the Great Hall of the Vienna Musical Society, the Vienna Concert Hall, the Palau de la Musica and other international Concert Halls around the world. Since 2005 Clemens Unterreiner is a permanent member of the State Opera Vienna where he sang famous parts  like Sharpless, Faninal, Donner, Harlekin, Melot, Bretigny, Schschtelkalow, the High Priest of Apollo (Alceste), Happy (La fanciulla del West) the Music Teacher (Ariadne of Naxos) and Schaunard.

In addition he was extremely successful at the Volksoper Vienna (Papageno, Sharpless). Further performances took him to Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Opera Copenhagen, the Opera Strassbourg, the Salzburg Festival, the Opera Nice in France, the National Theater Linz, the Summer Festival Heidenheim (Germany), to Tokyo, Baden-Baden (Germany) and the Richard Wagner Festival in Budapest.

He also shows remarkable charitable activities as member of various relief organizations and he is president of an organization called „Hilfstöne“ (Helping Sounds) which performs music and donates the money to people in need. (www.hilfstoene.at)
